Climate zones across Sydney
The National Construction Code sorts Australia into eight climate zones and uses them to set energy-efficiency requirements for buildings. This is where the Sydney suburbs we checked fall, using the Australian Building Codes Board's published zone data.

Licensing
The refrigerant handling licence from the Australian Refrigeration Council (ARCtick) is the one national licence requirement for refrigeration and air conditioning work. The electrical side of an installation is licensed by each state or territory. NSW Government guidance says electrical wiring work in New South Wales needs an electrical licence, whatever the cost or type of work.
